Michael in Maryland

I arrived in College Park, Maryland tonight after a grueling 10 hour drive from Knoxville, Tennessee. It was a very scenic drive for the most part; I-81 is very mountainous and aesthetically pleasing. The same cannot be said of I-495, aka the Beltway around DC. I spent an hour and a half crawling a distance of 22 miles due to an ugly-looking accident. Aside from that it was a pleasant, though lonely, drive.

I am currently sitting in a sorority house (that will not be named for both security purposes and not being tied to a Greek organization) on the University of Maryland campus. The walls here are adorned with past sorority classes. Inevitably, I have chosen my crush - Ellen Hawke, class of '84. She's a cutie. And a 48-year old. That last fact will be negated.

I got to spend the last 2 days in Tennessee at Discipleship Focus in Pigeon Forge. It was wonderful visiting old friends and meeting new ones. Lots of great conversation, lots of love. Also an aquarium visit (with penguins!), ultimate frisbee, Cici's Pizza, CrossFitting, and reading/thoughtful discussion time at Books-a-Million (a Barnes and Noble-ish store). Great adventure.

Thanks to the generosity of my good friend Michael J. Borden (a regular staple in the Discipleship Focus videos on YouTube), I have acquired a pull-up bar for the summer. This will be a welcome addition to MichaelFit, my yet-to-be-born fitness program. A great victory for physical fitness! I should probably reward Mikey with a MichaelFit shirt or something...

LSAT on Monday. Get pumped. I'm scouting out the testing site Saturday or Sunday. As far as my summer program, I still know next to nothing. It doesn't actually start until Monday, so I am relatively alone in this house except for two interns (not in the program, but living with us) and Laura, who oversees the female interns in the program. Great people thus far. I look forward to meeting more. Adventure!
